About Dr. Beverly Mullings
Dr. Beverly Mullings who holds a Doctorate in Education and is a certified teacher with the Florida Department of Education founded New Visionary Learning Center in 2003 to help students from all backgrounds achieve to their full potential. New Visionary Learning Center is a Supplemental Educational Service Provider with a long history of excellent student achievement. She specializes in Reading and Curriculum Development with an emphasis on ensuring a positive experience for students from diverse backgrounds. She is experienced in training student teachers and orienting new staff, and embraces a proactive approach to teaching and learning that guarantees the best outcome for students.
A community advocate, she works diligently with parents and parent groups by offering monthly parent workshops and has worked to supervise adult reading and writing programs. Not only does she work to ensure student success in everyday school, but she also specializes in working with students to prepare them for college preparatory exams such as the ACT and SAT.
She is excellent at poetry and is the recipient of the Editor's Choice Award for the National Library of Poetry in Washington DC. Her love of teaching and learning is undeniable and her years of works providing the best opportunity for students to be successful in K-12 and beyond is evident in her work with students at all levels.

Reading comprehension is an interactive, cognitive process. Students will use their background knowledge, text information, cues and the concept of the story to construct meaning. Students are motivated by the "Language Experience Approach" and they learn to connect reading and writing because students are actively involved in reading what they have written.

Students will:
- Create, analyze and solve word problems
- Give basic statements of problem situations
- Draw pictures, diagrams and charts to represent problems

- Explain how solution to problems can be applied to other subjects and real world situations
